Tourism South East - Glamping Business Of the Year 2022/2023
The electricity we use for laundry and other daylight activities is generated from our solar panels reducing our requirement for burning fossil fuels.
In 2022 we replanted approx. 75 metres of native hedgerow having obtained a grant from Old Chalk, New Downs. Native hedgerows are very good for wildlife particularly small nesting birds and small mammals that are already often seen on the site.
All our firewood is approved under the Grown In Britain certification, which proves that all our firewood comes from responsibly managed UK woodlands.
We have recently donated a delivery of goodies to the local team of litter pickers!
They do a wonderful job and volunteer regularly to help keep the surrounding area beautiful!
It's such a shame that it needs to be done but without these amazing humans dedicating their time we wouldn't have such a lovely area and this was our way of saying thank you for everything they do. If anyone local would like to volunteer, let us know and we'll put you in touch
Last year we swapped to reusable glass bottles reducing our use of single use plastics by 3000 plastic bottles per season. We have installed larger recycling bins onsite decreasing our waste sent to landfill by 75%. We have a reuse policy on site with many quirky items e.g. grass sofa and tables made from recycled pallets and cable reels.
All our toilets, bins, taps and fridges have been twinned as a way of supporting those a lot less fortunate than ourselves.
